Well, Brooke and Cate beat me into puppy submission this weekend. After a several month stand-off we got a 9 week old Border Collie that has since been named ‘Maggie’. I gave a good fight but in the end I was defeated.
I know what you’re thinking…’The last time you were defeated in a puppy smackdown you guys adopted a 130 year old Beagle that needed to wear Depends when it stormed.’ Yes, friends your memory serves you well. Although Maggie seems like she is going to be a good fit so far. Cate thinks she is the coolest thing ever and Maggie seems pretty fond of her.
Maggie was born on a 200 acre horse and cattle farm where her mom and dad work as real working herding dogs. The owners have 5 Border Collies all together, Maggie’s parents Cali and Buster and 3 other dogs from previous litters.
Cate needed a haircut this past weekend so someone decided to try out their beautician skills. We soon discovered there is a reason why you need training and a license to cut hair. I’m not going to rat out the future Fantastic Sams employee but lets just say her name starts with ‘M’ and ryhmes with ‘Tommy’.
Here is a collage I put together. I think the haircut is similar to Jim Carey in Dumb and Dumber. Brooke thinks she has a mullet. There is also some resemblance of the ‘Dutch Boy’ from Dutch Boy Paint Company.
A few weeks ago I went to Northern California to climb 14,179′ Mount Shasta with Ben’s dad and another buddy. Along the way I buried a time capsule for Cate so that her and I could go back and dig up in 20 years.
The time capsule included:
Letters from family
A few pictures
Some newspaper clippings
A pocketknife that belonged to one of her Great Grandfathers
Cufflinks that belonged to her other Great Grandfather
A name tag that one of her Great Grandmother used to wear dancing
The Time Capsule is at the Clear Creek Trailhead to Mt Shasta
Elevation 6,551 Feet - N41 Deg 21.916′ W 122Deg 07.563′
Here are a few pictures of the location and a few from the climb. The capsule is 5 steps behind the sign below (hopefully the sign will be there in 20 years). I took pictures of Cate with the capsule itself but accidentally deleted them.
Sorry it took so long on these. Had a problem with the picture gallery and just fixed it.
Here are a few pictures from Father’s Day although not any pics with Cate and her Dad…whats up with that? We had a good time with a lot of pool time and grilling out.
Yes, friends…it has been far too long since the last post. Here are pictures taken over the last few months. They include pool time, the Florida Aquarium with Grandma, and several others. Enjoy.
P.S. I absolutely PROMISE to post pictures from Father’s day so check back soon.
A few of her just being goofy. You can see she likes to stick her tongue out…a lot. She also likes Elmo although for anyone that knows her she doesn’t like Elmo nearly as much as Jellycat.
A few from her trying on her swim suit and sunglasses for vacation in the Florida Keys. To take a line from one of Cate’s cousins…she ‘Just needs to get away’. So Cate’s Mom and Dad and Grandma and Grandpa F. will be whisking our little super star away to the Keys in late July. There are some pictures of her looking like a movie star in her little glasses.
Cate had a great Easter. She got to spend time with family and even got to hunt for Easter eggs. She isn’t real sure what its all about yet but she likes to do it anyways. Here are some pictures from the day:
Cate went to her buddy Ben’s one year birthday party last weekend. She was reflecting on it earlier today…’To be one again…ah those were the good ole days…at 13 months you have to be cuter and play more than you had to at just a year’
Here are just a couple pics from Ben’s party. We’ll try to get more updates on the site. Between everyone having the flu within the last few weeks, Cate’s dad travelling a couple times already this year, and playing a lot there just hasn’t been much time. We’ll make a point to do better though.
I’ll leave you with this image (I wish I had a picture of it). Today I carried Cate from her classroom, through the hallway (fairly long), all the way out to the car…the entire time with her finger jammed up her nose. I tried to remove it but she just went straight back to it. Quite lady-like. I’m thinking when she is 16 years old pictures of something like that would be quite useful in getting extra chores done around the house. I’ll have to be more prepared.
Here are the pics, enjoy:
P.S. How cute is the little flip up curl she has going on?
Here is Cate’s first year video shown at her birthday party. Not nearly as good of quality as the DVD but it works. It is an 8 minute video so grab some popcorn, sit back, and enjoy. I know a few people have had trouble viewing video off of the main site so I thought I would give YouTube a try. Let me know if it doesn’t work for you and I can revert back to the old way. Hint: You have to click the Play symbol twice, one to activate the window and once to play the video.
I would prefer any feedback you leave be on either both sites or just this site as opposed to just leaving comments on YouTube. Thanks!
Here a few pictures from Cate’s birthday party. Still hard to believe my little girl is getting all grown up. Ok, I’m exaggerating a little but you know what I mean. Anyways, a good time was had by all. Here they are:
